Affordable Art Fair Battersea, London
I’m so excited to share that this October, my work will be heading to the Affordable Art Fair Battersea with Dalloz Contemporary.
Taking place at Evolution London in Battersea Park from 14–18 October, the fair brings together more than 100 galleries from the UK and around the world for five days of contemporary art.
This will be my first time exhibiting at the Affordable Art Fair, and I’m really excited to be showing with the lovely team at Dalloz Contemporary, following the Botanical Forms exhibition earlier this year.
Over the past few months I’ve been working on a new collection of paintings to take to the fair. It’s been a busy summer with the school holidays and a family trip to Disney World in Florida thrown in, but somehow the work has all come together. I’m really happy with how the collection feels as a whole. There’s a real sense of cohesion between the paintings, and I think it’s one of my most sophisticated bodies of work to date.
Flowers appear and disappear, edges soften, and areas of colour bleed into one another. There’s a softness running through the collection, but also a sense of movement, with layers built up and partially hidden again and gestural marks sitting against quieter areas of paint. Some paintings feel like a bunch of flowers caught briefly in view, while others have become much more ambiguous, almost like a memory of something rather than the thing itself.
It’s always strange seeing work leave the studio after spending so much time with it, but I’m really looking forward to seeing this collection alongside the other artists’ work on the stand.
