Art has the power to evoke emotions from within us to the conscious mind. It draws energy, whether it be excitement, peace or a bold talking point - the piece you choose is an expression of you. It is a way to connect with yourself while transforming your surroundings. The perfect piece of art will speak to your soul.

WELCOME

I am Cher - mum to two young children, wife and Artist all in equal measures!

My journey began with a new home, an empty loft space and a desire to do what brings me joy and serenity amidst a hectic life as a mum.

The secret room hidden away on the third floor fast became my playground to explore my creativity and reignite my passion for art.

Away from the never-ending distractions of family life, this allowed me the time and space to escape reality and reconnect with myself.

My work is now exhibited and held in private collections across the UK.

Cher Deaville - British contemporary artist

What inspires me?

“Expressionism refers to art in which the image of reality is distorted in order to make it expressive of the artists inner feelings or ideas” Kandinsky.

I don’t set out with a plan but I use my internal guide as a vehicle of developing my visual language. My recent expressive works have a floral sense. The paintings are inspired by ageing flowers. I’m responding with an exploration of energetic marks and lines, movement and soft bleeds of colour. I deconstruct the familiar and capture the essence of the flowers through their forms, colours and delicate lines.

My relaxed florals have a soft strength.

They symbolise elegance, pleasure and intimate connections. Capturing the dualities - Freedom and restraint.

I use a variety of techniques and I see my brushes as an extension of my body, using them in an almost meditative way. My art is mixed media but mostly acrylics built up in a series of thin layers. When building the layers its a call and response to what has come before, developing a rich history, and with confident brushstrokes I ensure that each piece is unique. I love exploring colour and the effects the soothing colours of nature can have on my mood.

“Colour is a power which directly influences the soul” Kandinsky.

When I finish a painting I want to be as interested in the end result as the viewer. It often comes after a final bold mark and leaves me feeling surprised.

Creating beautiful timeless art that goes beyond trends.
